SG:Turkish crude steel output up 6.6 percent in May
According to a statement released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association, in May this year Turkey's crude steel production rose by 6.6% YoY and was up 6.8% MoM amounting to 3.08 million tonnes.
In May, of the total crude steel production in Turkey, steel production using electric arc furnaces amounted to 2.37 million tonnes with an increase of 11.8% compared to May 2011 and decreasing 4.9% MoM while production via blast furnaces fell by 7.4% YoY to 714,000 tonnes up 11.6% compared to April this year.
In the first 6 months of the current year, Turkey's crude steel production amounted to 15 million tonnes up 10.4% YoY.
