SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Canadian equities continued to slip Tuesday, with the S&P/TSX benchmark CA:$ISPTX -0.21% falling 10 points to 11,320. Losses were supported by a 0.4% drop in the materials sector XX:TTMT -0.58% and a 0.5% decline in metals mining equities XX:TTMN -0.85% . After making headway Monday gold stocks struggled, with Barrick Gold CA:ABX -2.18% sliding 2% and Centerra Gold CA:CG -0.67% losing 1.9%. Among notable movers were NGEx Resources CA:NG -2.15% , falling 4%, and on the upside, Caledonia Mining Corp. CA:CAL +6.67% added 6.7%. In currency trading, Canada's dollar rose on the greenback USDCAD -0.0899% , with one U.S. currency purchasing C$1.0275 vs. C$1.0286 Monday.
