SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks bounced off session lows Thursday as the smoke cleared from central bank rate cuts and dreary economic data. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA -0.16% fell 21 points, or 0.2%, to 12,923, after touching a low of 12,852 earlier in the session. The S&P 500 Index SPX -0.24% declined 3.5 points, or 0.3%, to 1,371, after being down as low as 1,363. The Nasdaq Composite Index COMP +0.19% rose 5.6 points, or 0.2%, to 2,982, after touching a low on the day of 2,958. |
