The official value of the shekel declined an average of .962 percent, Thursday, against the other featured currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 4.035, up .674 percent, while the Euro rose 1.188 percent to 4.9641 shekels.
The pound sterling was set at NIS 6.3292, up 1.178 percent, while 100 Japanese yen rose 1.153 percent to 5.1329 shekels. The Australian dollar jumped 1.825 percent to NIS 4.2063, while its Canadian counterpart was set at 4.0022 shekels, up 1.206 percent. Analysts have blamed the shekel's recent decline on political uncertainty in the region, highlighted, in the last two days, by the terror attack on Israelis in Burgas, Bulgaria and the attack by Syrian rebels in Damascus.
