RTRS:Kenya shilling eases as demand for dollars picks up

NAIROBI (Reuters) - The Kenyan shilling dipped on Friday, pressured by banks buying dollars in anticipation of a spike in demand for the greenback at the end of the month, traders said.

The shilling traded at 84.20/40 per dollar at 0750 GMT, a touch weaker than Thursday's close of 84.15/35.

"Banks are squaring off dollar positions," said Chris Muiga, a trader at Kenya Commercial Bank.

"With end-month dollar demand from the usual energy and manufacturing guys, we could see the shilling weaken marginally."
