Fire crews were at the Northern Natural Gas Company at the intersection of Highway 44 and G Avenue northeast of Redfield. The facility stores natural gas in an underground storage area.
Authorities said an leak happened in an underground pipeline about 9:26 a.m. and was extinguished by 10:55 a.m.
Spokesman for Northern Natural Gas Mike Loeffler said damage was contained to a small area of a farm field. Northern Natural Gas is a subsidiary of MidAmerican Energy Holding Co. Company.
Loeffler said no injuries were reported.
The cause remains under investigation.
Redfield is 28 miles west of West Des Moines.
