MW:U.S. stock futures retain modest gains after data

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stock futures retained small gains on Thursday after data showed a slight rise in weekly jobless claims and a decline in housing starts in July. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJU2 +0.18% gained 25 points to 13,160 and those on the S&P 500 index SPU2 +0.20% climbed 3.70 points to 1,407.2. Nasdaq-100 futures NDU2 +0.24% added 9 points to 2,747.5.
