MW:Euro extends gain after ECB leaves rates unchanged

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- The euro extended gains on Thursday, after the European Central Bank decided to leave its key interest rate unchanged at 0.75% and left its overnight deposit rate at 0%. The euro EURUSD +0.2846% rose to $1.2637, from trading around $1.2613 ahead of the announcement. The ICE dollar index DXY -0.22% , which measures the greenback against a basket of six rival currencies, was down to 81.047, from 81.253 in late North American trading on Wednesday.
