BS:Select base metals declines on reduced demand

Select base metals prices declined at the non-ferrous metal market here today on reduced demand from stockist amidst lower industrial offtake despite a recovery in London Metal Exchange (LME).

Meanwhile, Nickel and lead firmed up on better demand from alloy industries.

The industrial metals rebounded at the LME, on optimism of recent easing steps set by the United States, Europe and Japan would offer a new life line to global growth outweighed a raft of poor factory data in the prior session.

Copper sheet cutting fell by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 466 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 470.
Copper armiture and brass utensils scrap slipped by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 473 and Rs 327 from Rs 475 and Rs 329.

Copper cable scrap, copper wire bar, brass sheet cutting and aluminium utensils scrap all softened by a rupee per kg each to Rs 492, Rs 520, Rs 335 and Rs 119 respectively.

However, Nickel climbed by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 1,100 as against Rs 1,095 previously and lead inched up by a rupee per kg to RS 127.
