The euro was stable Tuesday ahead of the publication this week of Spain's budget and bank stress-test results, while the pound hovered near its strongest level in almost four years as currency traders awaited the payment of European Union subsidies to U.K. farmers.
At midday in London, the euro was trading at $1.2911 compared with $1.2930 late Monday in New York. The dollar was at ¥77.77, compared with ¥77.83, while the euro was at ¥100.42 compared with ¥100.62. The pound was trading at $1.6216 compared with $1.6220 late Monday in New York.
