NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude and gold futures extended gains on Thursday after data showed that weekly jobless claims rose less than economists expected and as European Central Bank President Mario Draghi started his monthly news conference. Crude for November delivery CLX2 +0.76% gained 94 cents to $89.09 a barrel in electronic trading, while gold for December delivery GCZ2 +0.87% rallied $16.20 to $1,796 an ounce.
