MW:Treasurys fall more, dollar stays down after data

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Treasury prices extended losses and the dollar fell further on Thursday after first-time jobless claims dropped sharply in the latest week. The dollar index DXY -0.40% , which measures the greenback against a basket of six currencies, fell to 79.796, from79.812 before the report and 80.058 in late trading Wednesday. The euro EURUSD +0.39% rose to $1.2933 compared with $1.2869 in the prior session. Yields on 10-year notes 10_YEAR +1.31% , which move inversely to prices, rose 3 basis points to 1.71%. Coming up, the U.S. government will auction 30-year bonds 30_YEAR +0.76% .
