In later deals on Friday, the Indian rupee erased its advance and edged down against the U.S. dollar.
The rupee is now trading at 53.81 per greenback, off its early 4-day high of 53.6075. The greenback-rupee pair closed Thursday's deals at 53.70.
India's manufacturing sector inched up in October, driven by new orders, but persistent power shortages weighed on production, an HSBC survey said.
The HSBC India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), a measure of factory production, at 52.9 in October, slightly up from 52.8 in September.
