WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Entergy Corp. ETR -1.55% reported third-quarter net profit of $337.1 million, or $1.89 a share, down from $628.1 million, or $3.53 a share, earned in the same period during 2011. Quarterly revenue generated by the New Orleans-based company fell to $2.96 billion from the prior year's $3.4 billion. Earnings on an operating basis came to $1.95 a share for the latest quarter. The consensus of analysts had been for Entergy to earn $2.01 a share on revenue of $3.39 billion.
