Copper futures prices today strengthened by Rs 3.80 to Rs 422.55 per kg as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on pick-up in demand from consuming industries.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in November rose by Rs 3.80, or 0.91 per cent, to Rs 422.55 per kg in business turnover of 15,657 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in February moved up by Rs 3.40, or 0.80 per cent, to Rs 428.65 per kg in 1,263 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to fresh positions created by speculators amid a rise in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
