MW: Europe stocks reverse, Stoxx 600 up 0.3% at 269.46

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European stock markets erased losses in afternoon action on Tuesday, after a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel reportedly was imminent and U.S. housing data surprised to the upside. The Stoxx Europe index XX:SXXP +0.35% rose 0.3% to 269.49, after trading as low as 267.64 earlier in the session. Germany's DAX 30 index DX:DAX +0.80% jumped 0.8% to 7,179.85, while France's CAC 40 index FR:PX1 +0.64% added 0.6% to 3,460.63. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 index UK:UKX +0.24% added 0.2% to 5,747.06.
