WS: Euro higher against dollar; dollar flat vs. British pound; investors wait for Fed
NEW YORK — The euro is slightly higher against the dollar as investors await a statement from the Federal Reserve.
The Fed gives its latest economic outlook later Wednesday, and Chairman Ben Bernanke holds a news conference. The Fed may announce additional steps to help the U.S. economy.
The euro is trading at $1.3037, up from $1.3003 late Tuesday.
In other currency trades, the British pound is essentially flat against the dollar at $1.6114. The dollar is slipping against the Swiss franc. It’s also down slightly against the Canadian dollar but up against the Japanese yen.
