Indian rupee declined slightly against the greenback in noon trade on Monday. Rupee was lower by 2 paise or 0.03% against US dollar to Rs 55.08 compared to previous close of 55.06 (12.18 p.m.). It opened at Rs 55.15 against US dollar. In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.05% to 79.57 after opening at 79.61 (01:38 ET). Euro - USD was trading at 1.31 up 0.01% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 84.36 up 0.14% (01:48 ET). At 12.19 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 34.56 points or 0.18% at 19,276.56 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 7.85 points or 0.13% at 5,855.55 with 34 components gaining.
