Indian rupee declined against the greenback in post noon trade on Wednesday. Rupee was lower by 18 paise or 0.32% against US dollar to Rs 54.80 compared to previous close of 54.62 (1 p.m.). It opened at Rs 54.73 against US dollar.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.07% to 79.72 compared to previous close of 79.77 (01:52 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.32 down 0.11% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 88.24 down 0.62% (00:00 ET).
At 12.34 p.m, the Sensex was trading down 56.18 points or 0.28% at 19,930.64 with 21 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 23.75 points or 0.39% at 6,032.85 with 35 components falling.
