GB:Shekel strengthens against euro, flat against dollar
The shekel strengthened against the euro and was flat against the dollar in morning inter-bank trading today. The shekel-dollar exchange rate is down 0.04%, compared with yesterday's representative rate, to NIS 3.733/$, and the shekel-euro exchange rate is down 0.52% to NIS 4.957/€.
In international markets, the dollar is traded at $1.33/€ against the euro.
Foreign currency investors are reacting to yesterday's announcement by the Central Bureau of Statistics that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.2% in December 2012, and that inflation last year was 1.6%, below the midpoint of the government's 1-3% price stability target.
Yesterday, Budget Director Gal Hershkowitz told "Globes", "The revenues forecast made by the Ministry of Finance in the second half of 2010 was reasonable under the conditions at the time." He added, "The next government will do everything to deal with the deficit."
