Indian rupee fell on Monday against US dollar. It was lower by 5 paise or 0.09% against US dollar to Rs 53.76 compared to previous close of 53.71. It was opened higher at Rs 53.72 against US dollar.
The Sensex added 62.78 or 0.31% at 20,101.82 with 17 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 17.90 or 0.30% at 6,082.30 with 28 components posting rise.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.04% to 80 compared with previous close of 80.04 (06:56 ET). It was opened at 80.07.
