MY:Rupee trades up 20 paise against US dollar to 53.57
Indian rupee gained against the greenback in noon trade on Wednesday supported by RBI's announcement. It was higher by 20 paise or 0.37% against US dollar to Rs 53.57 compared to previous close of 53.77 (12.20 p.m.). It opened at Rs 53.55 against US dollar.
''The Indian rupee was also supported by a strong euro and strong FII inflows in the equity markets. Rupee is likely to gain support from strong dollar inflows in the equity markets and expectations for supportive government reforms and budget to boost growth,'' said Emkay Global Financial Services.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.03% to 79.59 compared with previous close of 79.56 (01:32 ET). It was opened at 79.56.
Euro - USD was trading at 1.34 down 0.04% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 90.89 up 0.18% (01:44 ET).
At 12.18 p.m, the Sensex was trading down 17.36 points or 0.09% at 19,973.54 with 15 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 5.25 points or 0.09% at 6,044.65 with 22 components falling.
