BLBG:Azerbaijan’s Socar Pumped Less Crude Oil, Natural-Gas Last Year
 
State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan pumped less oil and gas in 2012 as the Caspian Sea nation cut output.
The producer known as Socar delivered 8.2 million metric tons of oil, down 1.88 percent, figures published today on the website of the Baku-based company show. Socar also produced 6.87 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2012, down 3 percent.
Crude output by Azerbaijan, the largest oil producer in the former Soviet Union after Russia and Kazakhstan, declined by 5.3 percent to 43 million tons, the State Statistics Committee said Jan. 17. The country’s production of marketable gas increased by 5.4 percent to 17.2 billion cubic meters, the committee said.
Azerbaijan exports gas to Turkey, Georgia and Russia.
