Indian rupee dropped against the greenback in noon trade on Tuesday. It was lower by 4 paise or 0.08% against US dollar to Rs 53.33 compared to previous close of 53.29 (12.35 p.m.). It opened at Rs 53.40 against US dollar.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.17% to 79.68 compared with previous close of 79.55 (01:29 ET). It was opened at 79.62.
Euro - USD was trading at 1.34 down 0.27% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 93.34 down 0.04% (01:40 ET).
At 12.09 p.m, the Sensex was trading down 77.30 points or 0.39% at 19,673.89 with 18 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 33.15 points or 0.55% at 5,954.10 with 33 components falling.
