NEW DELHI: Tracking a firm global trend, copper prices rose by 0.16 per cent to Rs 451 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April rose by 70 paise, or 0.16 per cent to Rs 451 per kg in business turnover of 1028 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in February traded higher by 60 paise, or 0.13 per cent to Rs 445.75 per kg in 8736 lots. Market analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to a firm trend in overseas markets on speculation of a recovery in demand in China.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months gained 0.2 per cent to $ 8,253.25 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
