Ahead of the data, the euro showed mixed trading against other major currencies. While the euro recovered from an early low against the pound, it fell against the rest of major currencies.
As of 4:55 am ET, the euro was worth 1.3334 against the greenback, 123.15 against the yen, 0.8622 against the pound and 1.2292 against the franc.
