MY:Rupee plunges 39 paise against US dollar to 54.46
Indian rupee declined against the greenback in noon trade on Thursday. Rupee was lower by 39 paise or 0.74% against US dollar to Rs 54.46 compared to previous close of 54.06 (12.21 p.m.). It opened at Rs 54.37 against US dollar.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.09% to 81.14 compared to previous close of 81.06 (01:45 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.32 down 0.15% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 93.52 down 0.05% (01:56 ET).
At 12.26 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 178.80 points or 0.91% at 19,463.95 with 26 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 53.55 points or 0.90% at 5,889.50 with 45 components falling.
