Indian rupee gained against the greenback in noon trade on Friday. Rupee was higher by 7 paise or 0.13% against US dollar to Rs 54.40 compared to previous close of 54.48 (12.14 p.m.). It opened at Rs 54.51 against US dollar.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.25% to 81.26 compared to previous close of 81.46 (01:38 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.32 up 0.20% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 93.35 up 0.26% (01:43 ET).
At 12.20 p.m, the Sensex was trading up 5.43 points or 0.03% at 19,330.79 with 14 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 6.15 points or 0.11% at 5,846.10 with 24 components falling.
