NEW DELHI: Extending its weakness, copper futures prices on Thursday fell by another 0.38 per cent as speculators engaged in trimming their positions amid amid a subdued trend in the global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June declined by Rs 1.55, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 408.55 per kg in business turnover of 177 lots.
The metal for delivery in April fell by Rs 1.50, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 401.85 per kg in a business volume of 3,998 lots.
A weak trend overseas as worse-than-estimated US economic data spurred concern that growth is slowing in the world's second-biggest user and increasing stockpiles of the metal, mainly weighed on the copper prices at the futures trade here, analysts said.
Globally, copper for delivery in three-months traded 0.40 per cent lower at $ 7,356.25 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange, the lowest level since August 3.
