NEW DELHI: Crude oil futures prices rose by 0.59 per cent to Rs 5,124 per barrel today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in April gained Rs 30, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 5,124 per barrel, with a business turnover of 6,477 lots.
The oil for May delivery moved up by Rs 29, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 5,166 per barrel, with a business volume of 598 lots.
Market participants said the rise in crude oil futures was attributed to a firming trend in Asia ahead of US jobs data.
Meanwhile, crude oil for March delivery advanced by 18 cents to USD 93.44 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange
