KARACHI: The dollar slipped against the rupee in the interbank market, dealers said on Friday. It began the day’s trading at Rs 98.38 for buying, fell three paisas and closed at Rs 98.35 for buying and Rs 98.40 for selling. However, the European currency gained against the rupee as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 128.58 for buying, increased by 17 paisas and closed at Rs 128.75 for buying and Rs 128.95 for selling. Likewise, the British pound closed higher versus the local currency as it opened the day’s trading at Rs 150.02 for buying, increased 92 paisas and closed at Rs 150.94 for buying and Rs 151.14 for selling.
Open market: The dollar retreated against the rupee, dealers said. It started the day’s trading at Rs 99.10 for buying, fell 10 paisas and closed at Rs 99 for buying and Rs 99.25 for selling. The euro continued to gain against the local currency as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 129 for buying, rose 10 paisas and closed at Rs 129.10 for buying and Rs 130.10 for selling. Similarly, the pound sterling appreciated versus the rupee as it opened the day’s trading at Rs 149.50 for buying, strengthened by Re 1 and closed at Rs 150.50 for buying and Rs 152 for selling.
