NEW DELHI: Tracking a weak global trend, copper prices fell by 0.75 per cent to Rs 405.70 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in August fell Rs 3.05, or 0.75 per cent, to Rs 405.70 per kg in business turnover of 605 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in June traded lower by Rs 2.85, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 401.10 per kg in 11,587 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to weak global cues as a larger-than-expected retreat in China's producer prices indicated weaker demand from the largest user.
Meanwhile, copper fell 1.2 per cent to $ 7,330 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
