Nickel futures up 0.20% on firm demand, global cues
NEW DELHI: Nickel prices moved up marginally by 0.20 per cent to Rs 843.40 per kg in futures market today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firming trend overseas.
Besides, increased demand from alloy-makers in the spot markets supported the upside.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in June gained Rs 1.70, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 843.40 per kg in business turnover of 42 lots.
In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in May rose by Rs 1.60, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 836.90 per kg in 808 lots.
Globally, nickel gained 0.4 per cent to $ 15,345 a tonne at the London Metal Exchange (LME).
Market analysts said apart from increased domestic demand from alloy-makers, a firming trend in select base metals at the LME, mainly supported the upside in nickel futures here.
