ET:Rupee extends losses against dollar; down 22 paise
The rupee extended losses to 55.78/79 versus its previous close of 55.5675/5775 against dollar as a choppy share market and losses in the euro hurt the Indian currency.
Some month-end dollar demand from oil firms was also hurting the Indian currency, traders said.
Most other Asian currencies too were trading weaker compared with the dollar.
The index of the dollar against six major currencies was trading up 0.3 per cent as the dollar is broadly underpinned by hopes the US Federal Reserve is ready to scaleback the massive stimulus when warranted.
Shares trading up marginally after briefly turning negative in line with other Asian markets.
