Mumbai: The Indian rupee traded stronger tracking gains in most other Asian peers and after the wholesale price inflation in India slowed in May from a month ago.
At 12:44am, the partially convertible rupee was at 57.73 per dollar compared with its close of 57.98/99 on Thursday. The unit rose to as high as 57.75 in opening deals.
Inflation based on the wholesale price index (WPI) slowed to 4.7% in May from 4.89% a month ago on account of a decline in the prices of fuel and manufactured products.
