NEW DELHI: Copper prices fell by 1 per cent to Rs 399.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions, tracking a weak global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June month fell by Rs 4.05, or 1.00 per cent, to Rs 399.40 per kg in business turnover of 17,150 lots.
In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in August contract declined by Rs 3.70, or 0.91 per cent, to Rs 403.40 per kg in 4053 lots.
Market analysts said speculators trimmed their positions in line with a weak global trend on concern that slower growth in China, the biggest user, will damp metals demand mainly pulled down copper prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, copper fell 1.2 per cent to 6,713.50 dollar a metric ton on the London Metal Exchange.
