NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Treasury prices edged higher Wednesday ahead of an auction of 10-year notes, which may help set the tone for the market as it settles after a sharp rise in yields. The release of minutes from the last Federal Open Market Committee meeting will also be mined for clues to the central bank's plan for scaling back its bond-purchase program, which could come later this year. The 10-year note 10_YEAR +0.08% yield, which moves in the opposite direction from price, fell 2 basis points on the day to 2.622%. The 30-year bond 30_YEAR -0.17% yield fell 2.5 basis points to 3.628%, while the 5-year note 5_YEAR -0.27% yield fell 1.5 basis points to 1.481%.
