ET:Select base metals firm up on industrial demand

MUMBAI: Tin prices rose at the non-ferrous metal market here today due to renewed industrial demand coupled with higher stockists offtake.

Elsewhere, select copper, brass and aluminium also moved up on good buying support.

Industrial metals rebounded at the LME with copper rallying to five-week high on back of strong euro-zone macro data despite weak Chinese manufacturing activity, which slumped to an 11-month low in July.

Tin climbed by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 1,365 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 1,360 and copper sheets cutting edged up by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 472 as against Rs 470.

Copper scrap heavy, brass utensils scrap, brass sheets cutting and aluminum ingots all gained by a rupee per kg each to Rs 483, Rs 329, Rs 340 and Rs 144, respectively.

Copper utensils scrap, however softened by a rupee per kg to Rs 445 from Rs 446.
