NEW DELHI: Select base metals led by copper fell by Rs 2 per kg on the local non-ferrous base metals market today on stockists selling in tandem with a weak global trend.
Traders said sentiment turned bearish after copper weakened amid concern that China is tightening monetary policies to curb inflation, reducing the demand outlook from the biggest consumer.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months fell 0.6 per cent to 7,133 dollar a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel (4x4) fell by Rs 2 each to Rs 428 and Rs 1,048-1,049 per kg.
Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported were also traded lower by similar margin to Rs 111-117, Rs 146 and Rs 144 per kg respectively.
