BS:Copper down 0.1% on global cues

Copper prices fell by 0.13% to Rs 451.15 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions, tracking a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April fell by 60 paise, or 0.13%, to Rs 451.15 per kg in business turnover of 200 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February traded lower by 50 paise, or 0.11%, to Rs 445.10 per kg in 7,208 lots.

Analysts said weak global cues as signs the US economy is strengthening stoked speculation that the Federal Reserve may soon start tapering its stimulus, mainly influenced copper prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months retreated 0.3% to $6,954.50 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
