The rupee was trading weak in afternoon trades due to fear of US Fed's tapering and dollar demand from importers. At 12:15 pm the rupee was trading at Rs 61.97 compared with previous close of Rs 61.73 per dollar. "Fed may announce a cut in its stimulus programme after its two-day meeting," said a currency dealer with a state-run bank.
