BT:Indian rupee down 10 paise to 61.64 against dollar in early trade
The rupee was trading 10 paise down to 61.64 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday on the Interbank Foreign Exchange market following appreciation of the American unit against other currencies overseas.
Increased demand for the dollar from importers at current levels also put pressure on the rupee.
Dealers attributed the rupee's fall to dollar's gains against major currencies overseas after solid US economic data.
The rupee had lost two paise to close at 61.54 in Wednesday's trade against the dollar.
