The rupee was trading marginally weak by 1 paise at 62.68 against the dollar at 4.15 p.m. local time.
The domestic unit opened marginally weak at 62.71 per dollar against the previous close of 62.67 due to strong demand for the dollar from oil importers amid weakness in the dollar index.
The rupee hovered in the range of 62.56-62.72 in the morning trade.
According to the Treasury head of a public sector bank, āThe rupee will still track the movement of major Asian currencies. There is still some volatility.ā
In the bond market, yield on the benchmark 8.83 per cent government security, maturing in 2023, softened to 8.75 per cent against the previous close of 8.77 per cent. The prices rose to ā¹100.49 from ā¹100.37.
