BRUSSELS (Alliance News) - Germany's trade surplus eased to EUR 14.2 billion in December from previous month's revised surplus of EUR 19.1 billion. Economists had expected the surplus to fall to EUR 17.3 billion in December from EUR 18.1 billion originally reported in November.
The euro held steady against its major rivals after the report. As of 2:02 am ET, the common currency was trading at 138.82 against the yen, 0.8318 against the pound, 1.2245 against the Swiss franc and 1.3585 against the dollar.
