Copper extended gains for the third-day with prices rising further by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous base metals market today in tandem with a firming global trend.

Traders attributed the continued rise in copper to a firming global trend where the metal rose after stockpiles declined and biggest-user China returned from Lunar New Year holidays.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months climbed 0.2 per cent to USD 7,143 a tonne at the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap advanced by Rs 2 to Rs 440 per kg, respectively.

The following are today's metal rates per kg:

Zinc ingot 119-125, nickel plate (4x4) 1,070-1,071 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 440, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 138, lead imported 136, aluminium ingots 146, Aluminium sheet cutting 147, aluminium wire scrap 149 and aluminium utensils scrap 146.
