Mumbai: The domestic currency depreciated on Thursday, in line with its Asian peers after the dollar strengthened in the overseas market.
Some dollar demand from banks and oil importers was also seen putting pressure on the exchange rate, said currency dealers.

The losses in Asian currencies were led by Korean won, which was down 0.62% against the dollar.
The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 80.326, up 0.23% from the previous close of 80.144.
