NEW YORK (MarketWatch) - The U.S. stock market began the week on an optimistic note Monday, after a downbeat session on Friday dented weekly gains. Investors await Markit's puchasing managers index for March at 9:45 a.m. Estern. Among high risers, Apple Inc AAPL +1.07% shares rallied in early trade on talks of partnership with Comcast Corp CMCSA -0.32% . The S&P 500 SPX -0.01% opened 5.8 points, or 0.3%, higher at 1,871.75. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA +0.22% added 60.80 points, or 0.4%, to 16,364.55 at the open. The Nasdaq Composite COMP -0.47% began the day up 5.11 points, or 0.1%, at 4,285.52.
