GB: Iraq oil export hit 918 mln barrels in 2014

Iraq exported 918.114 million barrels of oil in 2014, bringing in 84.215 billion US dollars in revenue, the Oil Ministry said on Monday.

Iraq's monthly average of oil export was 76.511 million barrels with an average of 2.450 million barrels per day (bpd), the statement said citing figures issued by the country's State Organization for Marketing of Oil.

A total of 30 foreign companies purchased the Iraqi crude oil, at a monthly average selling price of 106.205 dollars per barrel. Monthly average revenue stood at 7 billion dollars, the statement said.

In a related development, a Oil Ministry spokesman said preliminary statistics show that Iraq's monthly oil export in December 2014, at 91.41 million barrels, was the highest since 1980.

However, the average selling price for December was 57 dollars per barrel, much lower than seen in the first half of the year due to the drop in crude prices on the world markets.

Iraq's economy relies on oil revenues for nearly 95 percent of its revenues.

In 2010, Iraq announced that its proven oil reserves had increased to 143.1 billion barrels, from the previous estimate of 115 billion barrels.
