European stock markets rose at the start of trading on Tuesday, extending the previous day's gains as London's benchmark FTSE 100 index won 0.76 percent to 6,833.78 points.
Frankfurt's DAX 30 gained 0.37 percent to 10,867.61 points and the CAC 40 in Paris won 0.51 percent to 4,651.07 compared with Monday's close.
Europe's main markets closed higher Monday as Greece's new anti-austerity government sought support for a renegotiation of the country's 240 billion euro ($270 billion) bailout in the face of German opposition.
