Dublin-based pharmaceutical company Shire PLC SHPG, +2.58% said fourth-quarter net income rose to $2.17 billion, compared with $64 million in the same period a year earlier, boosted by a one-time gain of $1.64 billion.
Revenues in the quarter rose nearly 19% to $1.58 billion from $1.33 billion, beating analysts' forecasts of $1.55 billion as polled by Factset.
Shire, a specialty biopharmaceutical company, said it expects this year's product sales growth in the mid-to-high single digits.
